Mrs. Melanie Wendt
Art

I grew up in a big family with 5 siblings in Lancaster County. Very early on, I knew God gave me a talent and love for art. After High School, I attended and graduated from Tyler School of Art, Temple University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in art education and jewelry/metalsmithing. Over the years, I’ve worked in many different jobs in the art field. I have sold my jewelry at numerous craft shows and galleries, designed store displays for department stores, worked as a graphic designer for The Patriot News, and taught jewelry/metalsmithing at Harrisburg Area Community College. It was this job that cultivated my love for teaching. This year will be my 6th year teaching at WFCS. I love this job because I can introduce art lessons with Biblical themes as well as encourage students to make art as a form of worship. I believe each child is designed with the desire to create, which is an amazing imprint of our Creator.

My husband and I just celebrated 31 years of marriage! Also, the Lord has blessed me with raising two children. My daughter, Amalie, is 20 years old and attends Florida Atlantic University.  My son, Teague is 19 years old, is working fulltime and currently lives in Louisiana. My husband and I just recently started serving as bimonthly weekend houseparents for Milton Hershey School working with high school age boys. My husband and I attend and are active members of Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church in Lancaster. In my leisure time, I enjoy walking my 2 dogs, biking, paddle-boarding, eating out and spending time with family and friends.
