Students Make Christmas Cards for Water Street Rescue Mission (Lancaster) and inmates throughout PA -
Students at West Fallowfield Christian School recently made Christmas cards for prison inmates throughout the state and for persons attending Christmas dinner at Water Street Rescue Mission in Lancaster. The distribution of the cards for the inmates is coordinated by an organization called CentrePeace located in Bellefonte, PA. “They distribute the cards to thousands of inmates as a reminder of the love and hope symbolized by the Christmas season. Often, the Christmas card, is the only piece of mail an inmate receives during the entire year,” according to their website. The students were delighted to make and illustrate the cards. Knowing that the inmates would not get to spend the Christmas holiday with their loved ones, the students included messages of hope in many of the cards with a Bible verse or kind words of encouragement. Additionally, a fourth grade student and his mother, asked the student body to make cards for Water Street Rescue Mission located in Lancaster. The student body is planning to make a card for each of the 200 people expected at the mission on Christmas Day. The student states that he and his family will give out the cards to the people as they come in to the mission and that hopefully it will “make them feel like they are cared for”. Students donate new socks to Camp Old Mill (Coatesville ) | The Parent-Teacher Fellowship Committee recently sponsored a sock drive to benefit children at Camp Old Mill in Coatesville. The student body collected 299 pairs of socks that will be delivered to the camp and distributed during the month of December. |
